Con­cert piece is long- stand­ing am­bi­tion

‘ This Fair Isle’ and de­scrib­ing four sea­sons in the Fens, rep­re­sents the first big project for the year.

Celia said: “The piece is is based around a can­tata by Pa­trick Hawes called ‘ The Land’.

“Pa­trick, who had a year at Clas­sic FMas com­poser in res­i­dence, wrote the piece on a com­mis­sion from South Hol­land District Coun­cil.

“It was per­formed in April 1995 - and hasn’t been heard since!

“I bumped into Pa­trick in 2011 and said that I had been in one of the choirs then, and had al­ways wanted to do it again. He said yes, so this will be the first per­for­mance in nearly 20 years.”

Re­hearsals take place at St Lukes Church on Mayor’s Walk ev­ery Mon­day, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, and ev­ery­one is wel­come.
