Concert piece is long- standing ambition
‘ This Fair Isle’ and describing four seasons in the Fens, represents the first big project for the year.
Celia said: “The piece is is based around a cantata by Patrick Hawes called ‘ The Land’.
“Patrick, who had a year at Classic FMas composer in residence, wrote the piece on a commission from South Holland District Council.
“It was performed in April 1995 - and hasn’t been heard since!
“I bumped into Patrick in 2011 and said that I had been in one of the choirs then, and had always wanted to do it again. He said yes, so this will be the first performance in nearly 20 years.”

Rehearsals take place at St Lukes Church on Mayor’s Walk every Monday, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, and everyone is welcome.
