Pub smashed by man with sledge­ham­mer

A man with a sledg ham­mer smashed up a pub on the out­skirts of Peter­bor­ough.

The Blue Boar i n High Street, Eye, was badly dam­aged by the man early on Satur­day morn­ing with the win­dowsand­doorss­mashed. Two cars were also tar­geted.

A po­lice spokes­woman said: “We were called at about 5.50am on Satur­day morn­ing with re­ports of crim­i­nal dam­age in the High Street in Eye.

“It was re­ported that a man had a sledg ham­mer and smashed windows and doors of the Blue Boarpub, as well as the rear windows of two cars, a blue Mini Cooper and a grey Vaux­hall As­tra, which were parked in the street.

“The of­fender is de­scribed as about 5’ 9”, slim build, pos­si­bly­late30sandwear­ing­dark cloth­ing with a hood up.

“Any­one with in­for­ma­tion is asked to con­tact po­lice on 101 or Crimestop­pers, anony­mously, on 0800 555 111.”
