Top tea for 60th an­niver­sary

Proud to be from York­shire, but en­joy­ing life in Peter­bor­ough, it was an an­niver­sary to savour for Peter and Mar­ion Wake­field last week. The cou­ple who are orig­i­nally from Don­caster, and who are still part of the York­shire As­so­ci­a­tion in Peter­bor­ough, were taken to So­phie T’s Vin­tage Teashop for their Di­a­mond Wed­ding be­fore go­ing back to the house of daugh­ter He­len Tyson. Peter (84) and Mar­ion (80) of Wer­ring­ton have an­other daugh­ter, An­drea, and four grand­chil­dren - Nicole, Becky, Stephen and Michael. He­len said: “They’ve had a fan­tas­tic week. They were thrilled to get the card from the Queen. They’ve had a lot of cards and flow­ers and they were thrilled with those. Peter was chief in­struc­tor of the ap­pren­tice school at Perkins En­gines and vol­un­teers at Peter­bor­ough City Hos­pi­tal. Mar­ion is a din­ner lady at Gun­thorpe Pri­mary School. Asked what the se­cret of their mar­riage is, He­len said: “It’s give and take, and fam­ily.”
