Rick is riding through the pAin

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - News -

He was misdiagnosed with cancer and hit by an HGV, but nothing will stop Rick Barton in his latest charity cycle ride. Rick planned his own funeral after being incorrectly told by his GP he had liver cancer in June last year. However, he was later told by his specialist that the 65mm tumour on his liver was in fact benign. Determined to give something back to Macmillan Cancer Support, Rick and 10 other amateur cyclists (pictured) rode from Peterborough Cathedral to the Skegness Clock Tower, raising just shy of £7,500. Rick is now planning a second ride on October 16 from the BT Tower in London to Peterborough despite being hit by an HGV just outside Stanground and being told it looks like he has a compression fracture in his lower spine and a slipped disc. He said: “I am not about to let a little lorry crash beat me.” This year Rick is riding for Marie Curie. To donate, visit: https://www.justgiving.com/ fundraising/RickBarton.
