Travel back in time at event

Now in its third year, Bas­ton in the Blitz 2016, tak­ing place this week­end (Au­gust 6 and 7) is promised to be big­ger and bet­ter than ever be­fore.

Ev­ery as­pect of the event has grown, in­clud­ing more vin­tage traders, more reen­ac­tors and many more World War Two liv­ing his­tory dis­plays.

An ex­cit­ing new fea­ture at this year’s event will be the live­fire­pow­erdemon­stra­tions and bat­tle re-en­act­ments to be held on both days in the dis­play arena.

Visi­tors will also be able to ex­pe­ri­ence the mighty roar of a Rolls-Royce Mer­lin en­gine, as­fit­ted­totheSpit­fire, Hur­ri­cane and Lan­caster dur­ing World War Two, be­ing run up to full throt­tle.

This year’s static air­craft d i s p l ays w i l l i n c l ud e a Hawker Hur­ri­cane and a Messer­schmitt Bf109.

The high-point of the day for many visi­tors is a fly­past by the RAF’s Bat­tle of Bri­tain Memo­rial Flight.

The event will be open both Satur­day and Sun­day, from 10am to 5pm. En­try is £6 adults, £4 se­nior cit­i­zens and free for chil­dren aged un­der 16.
