It’s an­other open win for Gel­sthorpe

There was more suc­cess for Peter­bor­ough Cy­cling Club at the week­end as their Stam­ford-based rider James Gel­sthorpe won the Bourne Wheel­ers pro­moted open 50-mile time trial near As­lackby.

It was Gel­sthorpe’s fourth open win of these ason as he scorched round the course in 1:49:22 to be­com­ing the sec­ond club rider to beat the one-hour 50- minute bar­rier, his time fall­ing just short of the club record set by Ja­son Bur­rill.

On the same day Mal­colm Smith rode the Mel­ton Olympic 25 and fin­ished in third place

Still on the time tri­alling scene, the club’s King’s Lynn-based post­man Matthew Sen­ter rode the Team Jadan 10 near Hull and his time of 19- 24 knocked eight sec­onds off the club record.

On the road- rac­ing front, Martin a Dore shenko scored the club’s first ever win in a ladies road race when she clev­erly out­sprinted a num­ber of fast fin­ish­ers in the Dar­ley Dale se­ries for ¾ cat­e­gory riders.
