Cel­e­bra­tions at city mosque

Res­i­dents had the chance to learn more about Is­lam and see what goes on be­hind the scenes at one of the big­gest mosques in the city at a spe­cial open day. The Hu­saini Is­lamic Cen­tre, in Bur­ton Street, Peter­bor­ough, opened its doors to al­low the pub­lic to see in­side the build­ing, as well as take part in an ‘Ask the Scholar’ event - giv­ing peo­ple the chance to ask any ques­tions they had about Is­lam. There was also the chance to ex­pe­ri­ence var­i­ous ex­hi­bi­tions re­lated to the Is­lamic faith. There were also a se­ries of other ac­tiv­i­ties, such as Henna paint­ing, Hi­jab styling, and an ‘Eid cor­ner’, mark­ing the end of the holy month of Ra­mad­han and the cel­e­bra­tion of Eid that fol­lowed. Imams Molana Kas­samali and Sheikh Shah­nawai Mah­davi were joined by Po­lice ACC Naveed Ma­lik, Peter­bor­ough City Coun­cil chief ex­ec­u­tive Gil­lian Beasley and other guests on the day.
