Man crit­i­cally hurt in A47 col­li­sion

A man is in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion­afterase­ri­ouscras­hand car fire on the A47 be­tween Eye and Thor­ney. Po­lice, fire and am­bu­lance ser­vices at­tended the scene on Mon­day morn­ing, and de­scribed it as a “ma­jor in­ci­dent”. Po­lice were called at 5.23am to re­ports of the col­li­sion on the A47 be­tween Thor­ney and Eye. When of­fi­cers at­tended the scene a sin­gle ve­hi­cle had left the road and was on its roof in a field. A man was been taken to hos­pi­tal with se­ri­ous, po­ten­tially life threat­en­ing, in­juries. A po­lice spokesman said he was still in a se­ri­ous con­di­tion on Wed­nes­day. Theroad­was­closed­be­tween Eye and Thor­ney as a re­sult of the in­ci­dent but re­opened at 9.45am. Any­one with in­for­ma­tion re­gard­ing this in­ci­dent is asked to call the Roads Polic­ing Unit on 101.
