Woman threat­ened by road rage man

Po­lice are ap­peal­ing for wit­nesses fol­low­ing a road rage in­ci­dent in Chat­ter is on Sun­day. The vic­tim, a woman in her 20s, was driv­ing along the A 142 in her white Volk­swa­gen Golf be­tween about 4 pm and 5pm when she passed the of­fender in his blue Ford Fo­cus. Upon see­ing the vic­tim, the of­fender fol­lowed her, ac­cel­er­at­ing and driv­ing very closely be­hind her. She at­tempted to lose the of­fender, who is known to her, by turn­ing right into Lang­wood Hill Drove. At this point the of­fender over­took her and slammed on his brakes, caus­ing her to break heav­ily and al­most come to a com­plete stop. She man­aged to get round him and drive along the B1098 all the way up to Up­well Road where an­other car has come be­tween them, all the while with the of­fender shout­ing threats and abuse through the open win­dows. Sergeant Alan Bough en said: “The vic­tim was ex­tremely fright­ened and in­tim­i­dated by the of­fender whose ac­tions could have re­sulted in a se­ri­ous col­li­sion.” Any­one with in­for­ma­tion is asked to con­tact po­lice on 101 or Crimestop­pers, anony­mously, on 0800 555 111.
