Man fined more than £3,000 for il­le­gal use of land

A man who failed to ob­tain plan­ning per­mis­sion to use land for a car re­pairs busi­ness has been or­dered to pay morethan£5,000in­fine­sand costs. Peter­bor­ough City Coun­cil pros­e­cuted Im­ran Khan of Clarence Road, Peter­bor­ough, for us­ing 787 Lin­coln Road for a car re­pairs busi- ness. The ap­proved use of the land and­build­ingswas­forstor­age. Khanap­peared­be­fore Peter­bor­ough Mag­is­trates’ Court last week and pleaded guilty tothe­unau­tho­rise­duseof787 Lin­coln Road. He was fined £3,600 and or­dered to pay costs of £2,000. Coun­cil­lor Peter Hiller, cabi- net­mem­ber­for­growth, plan­ning, hous­ing and eco­nomic de­vel­op­ment, said: “We­don’t pros­e­cute peo­ple with­out good rea­son and in this sit­u­a­tion court ac­tion was taken asalas­tre­sort­to­bringa­nend to an unacceptable de­vel­op­ment that was caus­ing a nui­sance to neigh­bours and the wider com­mu­nity.”
