City’s largest jobs fair re­turns

Job­seek­ers in Peter­bor­ough have a fan­tas­tic op­por­tu­nity to ap­ply for a wide range of jobs next week thanks to a forth­com­ing jobs fair.

The Depart­ment for Work and Pen­sions and Tack­ling Work les sn es sin Peterbo-rough(TWIP) are host­ing their an­nual jobs fair know­nas‘ Re­cruit 2016’ on Thurs­day, Septem­ber 8 from 10am to 3pm at Peter­bor­ough Town Hall.

With over 30 stands the event will in­clude hun­dreds of va­can­cies from the re­tail, ad­min­is­tra­tion, care, cus­tomer ser­vice and ware­hous­ing sec­tors. Com­pa­nies at­tend­ing in­clude Serco, the Royal Mail, Cross Keys Homes, Peter­bor­ough City Coun­cil, B&Q, Ar­gos and TSS.

The event is be­ing spon­sored by the Depart­ment for Work and Pen­sion sand Cross Keys Homes, and is hop­ing to help many find work or train­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties.

Job hunters will be able to meet lo­cal em­ploy­ers on the day, find out what sup­port and train­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties are avail­able in the city as well as browse real jobs quickly and con­ve­niently. At­ten­dees are there­fore strongly en­cour­aged to bring their CVs and dress smart. Work Coaches from Job­cen­tre­plus will also be avail­able through­out the event to provide sup­port.

There will also be a ‘Beat the Bar­ri­ers’ in­ter­ac­tive zone where job­seek­ers can find out and get sup­port to tackle their bar­ri­ers to em­ploy­ment such as low con­fi­dence, lack of com­puter skills and con­sider dif­fer­ent ideas such as self­em­ploy­ment.

Sarah Black­ledge, Em­ployer En­gage­ment Man­ager at Peter­bor­ough Job­cen­tre­plus said: “We will have a great se­lec­tion of full time, part time, tem­po­rary and per­ma­nent po­si­tion son of­fer and hope that many peo­ple who are look­ing for work will come along to see what real op­por­tu­ni­ties are avail­able in Peter­bor­ough and make the most of what prom­ises to be a great on­estop ca­reers fair cov­er­ing all job hunters’ needs and as­pi­ra­tions.”

Tack­ling Workless­ness in Peter­bor­ough (TWIP) is a lo­cal group which in­cor­po­rates Job­cen­tre­plus, Peter­bor­ough Re­gional Col­lege, City Col­lege Peter­bor­ough, Peter­bor­ough City Coun­cil, Peter­bor­ough Workspace and Op­por­tu­nity Peter­bor­ough as well as many other lo­cal com­pa­nies and or­gan­i­sa­tions and isled by Cross Keys Homes hous­ing as­so­ci­a­tion.
