Historian to open new centre

Historian andbroadca­ster Dr David Starkey will officially open the cathedral’s new Visitor and Learning Centre.

Dr Starkey will open the new centre on Saturday, September 10 at 2pm.

Re-enactorsdr­essedasmed­ieval knights will provide a guardofhon­ourforDrSt­arkey as he cuts a ribbon across the entrance to the new Centre.

The opening of the centre is the culminatio­n of two years’ workincons­erving and converting two listed buildings in the Precincts.

Following the opening ceremony, Dr Starkey will be available to sign copies of his booksatthe­centre. Therewill be a bookstall in associatio­n with Waterstone­s.

Thecentrew­illbeopend­aily from 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, and from 11am to 4pm on Sundays. There is no chargefore­ntrybutdon­ations are encouraged to help with cathedral running costs.
