His­to­rian to open new cen­tre

His­to­rian and­broad­caster Dr David Starkey will of­fi­cially open the cathe­dral’s new Vis­i­tor and Learn­ing Cen­tre.

Dr Starkey will open the new cen­tre on Satur­day, Septem­ber 10 at 2pm.

Re-en­ac­tors­dressedasme­dieval knights will pro­vide a guard­ofhonour­forDrS­tarkey as he cuts a rib­bon across the en­trance to the new Cen­tre.

The open­ing of the cen­tre is the cul­mi­na­tion of two years’ work­in­con­serv­ing and con­vert­ing two listed build­ings in the Precincts.

Fol­low­ing the open­ing cer­e­mony, Dr Starkey will be avail­able to sign copies of his book­satthe­cen­tre. Therewill be a book­stall in as­so­ci­a­tion with Water­stones.

The­cen­trewil­l­beopendaily from 10am to 5pm Mon­day to Satur­day, and from 11am to 4pm on Sun­days. There is no charge­foren­try­but­do­na­tions are en­cour­aged to help with cathe­dral run­ning costs.
