MAC cosmetics to open in city
Cosmetics specialist MAC has confirmed exciting plans to open a store in Peterborough’s Queensgate shopping centre. The high-end retailer will occupy the former Sue Ryder popupshopunitclosetoJohn Lewis in the Lower Mall.
It is thought that 10 jobs will be created by MAC’s arrival in the city.
A Queensgate spokesman said: “This is quite a coup for us.
“MACdoesnotusuallytake stand alone stores.
“It is a very popular brand andweareexpectingthestore to be very busy.”
Details have not yet been released about when MAC will open.
MAC, which stands for Make-up Art Cosmetics and was founded 32 years ago, is part of the New York-based Estee Lauder Group of Companies
It is oneofthetopthreeglo- bal make-up brands and has about 500 stores worldwide.
News of MAC’s imminent arrival in Peterboroughhasalready securedanenthusiastic response from many people.
But the Queensgate spokesman said that MAC was not the only retailer set to join the shopping centre in the near future.
Agreements have been reached with retailers for the vacant H&M store (the fashion retailer moved recently to the empty Waitrose store on the first floor) and the former BHS store.
The Queensgate spokesmansaidasurveyofcentreusers revealed that MACandthe fashion chainZaraweretopof shoppers’ list of retailers they hoped to see in the centre.
