In­de­pen­dence cel­e­bra­tions

Dig­ni­taries and com­mu­nity lead­ers gath­ered to cel­e­brate the 69th an­niver­sary of the in­de­pen­dence of Pak­istan. A cel­e­bra­tion was held at Jack Hunt School on Satur­day, with peo­ple from across Peter­bor­ough, in­clud­ing politi­cians, po­lice of­fi­cers and re­li­gious lead­ers gath­er­ing to mark the oc­ca­sion. Ab­dul Choud­huri ,Chair­man of Faizan e Mad­i­nah Mosque and Pres­i­dent of the Pak­istan Wel­fare As­so­ci­a­tion Peter­bor­ough, wel­comed the guests and said: “Sixty-nine years is not a long time in the his­tory of na­tions but the progress the coun­try has made is ab­so­lutely re­mark­able. A coun­try where there was only one univer­sity at the time of in­de­pen­dence which now has univer­si­ties and col­leges and ed­u­ca­tional in­sti­tu­tions in al­most every city is just one of the ex­am­ple.”
