The ac­claimed 1995 BBC drama’s DVD de­but will raise f unds for the MS So­ci­ety UK. Robert Car­lyle’s bril­liant as builder and foot­baller Nick in a story by Jimmy McGovern and Paul Henry Pow­ell. Nick’s one of the lads, but he falls for gor­geous ho­tel ad­min­is­tra­tor Karen (Juliet Aubrey) and life is good. But when MS de­vel­ops he loses his job and play­ing foot­ball and he tries to push Karen away as he plunges i nto a de­spair he doesn’t want her to share. A top young cast in­cludes the­nun­knowns James Nes­bitt and So­phie Okonedo. In which series s t ar­ring Rob­bie Coltrane­didCar­lyle firstap­pear? En­tries to Alex Gor­don, Now com­pe­ti­tion. SOME­BODY should have warned La­cie Dono­van (Tuckie White) and her col­lege pals never to vol­un­teer for any­thing. But, broke as usual they sign up as med­i­cal re­search guinea pigs for three days. It looked like easy money, but­no­body­men­tionedthey’dbe tak­ing part in a US mil­i­tary ex­per­i­ment. Onethat­goess­cream­ingly, hor­rif­i­cally wrong, and the mil­i­tary doesn’t want any­body left to tell tales.
