Yesterday Team GB surpassed the 34 gold medals they won at the London 2012 Games and with four days of competition left they seem certain to overtake the overall medal haul of 120.

And three competitors from the Peterborough area were medallists - one of them a double gold medal winner.

That was 37 year-old Wisbech cyclist Jody Cundy (main picture) who took his total of Paralympic titles to a magnificent seven. He struck first in the velodrome in the 1km time trial - an event in which he was disqualified in 2012 - and then gained another gold in the team sprint.

Also standing proud on the top of the podium was Peterborough rower James Fox (bottom right on the right), a member of the victorious mixed coxed four, while Sawtry’s triathlete Lauren Stead- man (top right) was a silver medallist.
