Community spirit led to drugs gang arrests

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Your Views -

A major police surveillance operation resulted in the jailing of a drugs gang that had been responsible for the sale of hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of drugs. The gang operated out of a house in Bretton and its activities were part of a major issue with drugs and anti-social behaviour across the city. The gang was arrested following concerns raised by worshippers at the Faizan e Medina mosque in meetings with police. These meetings are vital and do the mosque credit. Highlighting issues to police and helping to rid issues from local streets benefits everyone. The meetings at the mosque led to a police operation that was well executed and very successful and we agree with mosque chairman Abdul Choudhuri – the sentences dished out are not long enough and are not enough of a deterrent.
