Still no date set for trip to Edinburgh
Promoter Ged Rathbone is fighting to ensure Panthers’ final fixture goes ahead.
The city club have failed to agree a date for their trip to Edinburgh before the Monday (September 19) cut-off date for it to count towards the standings for the play-offs.
And with Panthers still battling to secure a spot in the top six, that is a far from satisfactory situation for Rathbone.
He has now called for the British Speedway Promoters’ Association( B SPA) to intervene - by either pushing back the cut-off date or awarding his side the meeting.
Rathbone said :“Edinburgh offered us tomorrow (Friday) but we couldn’t accept as we have four riders with prior commitments and wouldn’t have been granted a facility for any of them.
“They then offered us September 23 but that is after the cut-off so I’ ve contacted the BSPA management committee to see if the cut-off date can be put back due to the exceptional circumstances with Edinburgh having had so many meetings rained off this season.
“If that can’t happen, then I only think it is right that we are awarded the points.”
