Speed cam­paign gets new boost thanks to busi­ness­man

Cam­bridgeshire’s Speed­watch scheme has re­ceived a boost thanks to a gen­er­ous do­na­tion from Yax­ley. The scheme, which al­lows the pub­lic to get in­volved in mon­i­tor­ingth­es­peed­ofve­hi­cles trav­el­ling through their neigh­bour­hood, has been pre­sented with 50 new high­vis­i­bil­ity tabards. The do­na­tions came about af­ter a vol­un­teer on a new schemeinYax­leyap­proached his brother, who is the man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of spe­cial­ist cloth­ing re­tailer Howsafe. Su­per­in­ten­dent Laura Hunt said: “Speed­watch is an ex­cel­lent ex­am­ple­ofvol­un­teers mak­ing a dif­fer­ence in their com­mu­nity by work­ing in part­ner­ship with our­selves. “How­ever, they need the right equip­ment to op­er­ate and we are grate­ful for this gen­er­ou­sand­worth­while­do­na­tion, which­willal­low­more vol­un­teers to get in­volved across Cam­bridgeshire.” For more in­for­ma­tion, visit www.cambs.po­lice.uk/road­safety/speed­watch/
