Shoppers still hit the High St

-

John Bridge said he expected Christmas shoppers would be out in force over the next few weeks, despite the growing popularity of internet shopping. He said: “People do like the experience of going out and doing their shopping in person. There are some goods that people want to come and feel and see in person, and you can’t do that on the internet. “Retailers need to be adaptable to make sure their offering is an enjoyable one, and one which is able to compete with the price on the internet. “We have seen year after year there are great successes on the High Street, and people doing physical shopping - I don’t see that changing this year.” The current lineup of shops at the Hampton shopping centre includes River Island, Clarks, Boots, H&M, Outfit, New Look, and Tesco Extra. Over the coming year, parts of the car park will be re-routed to allow the works to take place. Some adjustments to the car park layout will be made, however disruption will be kept to a minimum.
