Two charged over pub­lic in­de­cency

Two home­less peo­ple have been­charged­with­outrag­ing pub­lic de­cency af­ter be­ing ar­rested byStPeter’s Arcade on Wed­nes­day last week.

A spokesman for Cam­bridgeshire po­lice said: “We were called at 12.20pm to re­ports of two adults com­mit­ting an in­de­cent act in a door­way close to the Argo Lounge.

“A 43-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man, both of no fixed abode, have been charged with an act of out­rag­ing pub­lic de­cency and will ap­pear at Peter­bor­ough Mag­is­trate’s Court on Jan­uary 11.”

Asked if there had been i nci­dents at the arcade while the se­cu­rity guards were there, Chief In­spec­tor RobHill, head­oftheSafer­Peter­bor­ough Preven­tion and En­force­ment Ser­vice, said: “There were three in­ci­dents where po­lice took ac­tion in re­sponse to of­fences: a fight, drunk­and­dis­or­derly­be­haviour and pub­lic in­de­cency.”

He added that the pres­ence of the guards pro­vided re­as­sur­ance to the pub­lic dur­ing the fes­tive pe­riod.
