Par­a­lympic medal­list among those to re­ceive recog­ni­tion

A Peter­bor­ough Par­a­lympicheroi sam ong oth­ers from the area to be recog­nised in the New Years Hon­ours.

For­mer Jack Hunt pupil James Fox won row­ing gold in Rio this sum­mer, and will pick up an MBE.

Mul­ti­ple Par­a­lympic medal­list Jody Cundy, for­mally of Wis­bech and al­ready an MBE, will be made an OBE.

Speak­ing from her home i n Walpole St An­drew, his mum Ann re­vealed he had only told her about the award a cou­ple of days ago. She said: “It’s ab­so­lutely amaz­ing, but to­tally de­served. It was the per­for­mance of the games, but I’m just a bit bi­ased.” Stam­ford’s Christo­pher New­some, Ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor of Anglian Water will also be­come an OBE. Peter­bor­ough’ s Deni se Speak­man. Trea­surer, Ethos Home Of­fice Sports and So- cial As­so­ci­a­tion has been given the British Em­pire Medal for pub­lic ser­vice.

And Peter Reeve, UKIP district coun­cil­lor for Hunt­ing­don­shire District Coun­cil was given an MBE for ser­vices to lo­cal gov­ern­ment and the com­mu­nity in Ram­sey.

Na­tion­ally, sport­ing stars have been given a num­ber of hon­ours in the list.
