City shop­pers raise money for home­less

A Christ­mas gift-wrap­ping ser­vice, or­gan­ised by YMCA Cam­bridgeshire& Peter­bor­ough, raised an im­pres­sive £5920.32 at the Queens­gate Shop­ping Cen­tre over the fes­tive pe­riod.

In to­tal, over 70 vol­un­teers con­trib­uted over 300 hour sof their time. Thes er­vice saw ap­prox­i­mately 1000 me­tres of gift wrap used and 600 me­tres of sticky tape.

Jonathan Martin, CEO at YMCA Cam­bridgeshire & Peter­bor­ough com­mented: “The shop­pers at Queens gate have been so gen­er­ous over the fes­tive sea­son. Young peo­ple can strug­gle to cope when they be­came home­less through no­fault of their own and these amaz­ing do­na­tions mean that we are able to sup­port them to get back on their feet and into in­de­pen­dent hous­ing. Thank you to every­one who con­trib­uted dur­ing De­cem­ber.”
