City shoppers raise money for homeless

A Christmas gift-wrapping service, organised by YMCA Cambridges­hire& Peterborou­gh, raised an impressive £5920.32 at the Queensgate Shopping Centre over the festive period.

In total, over 70 volunteers contribute­d over 300 hour sof their time. Thes ervice saw approximat­ely 1000 metres of gift wrap used and 600 metres of sticky tape.

Jonathan Martin, CEO at YMCA Cambridges­hire & Peterborou­gh commented: “The shoppers at Queens gate have been so generous over the festive season. Young people can struggle to cope when they became homeless through nofault of their own and these amazing donations mean that we are able to support them to get back on their feet and into independen­t housing. Thank you to everyone who contribute­d during December.”
