B&M will boost trade
There was a mixed reaction to the news that discount retailer B&M is moving onto Bridge Street. For some it’s great news with a big unit filled and a positive impact on footfall in that part of the city. For others creating ‘Bargain Bridge Street’ is a concern and there have been criticisms of a ‘lack of ambition’. But most importantly Bridge Street’s big retail units are being filled and footfall is assured... that is vital because of the impact on the popularity and viability of units that are still available and those in Lower Bridge Street. Increased footfall gives prospective independent and smaller retailers a better chance of success.
