City school receives donation
A school in Peterborough has had a great start to the new year byreceiving aspecial gift.
The pupils at Highlees Primary School in Westwood were given a donation of £1,000 by the internet giant Amazon.
The donation was made as part of Amazon Peterborough’s support programme whereby the company supports t he c o mmunities arounditsoperatinglocations across the UK.
The school plans to use the donation to purchase new books and school equipment.
Lee Shepherd, Site Leader at Amazon in Peterborough, said: “The team at Amazon in Peterborough has fond memories of reading the classics in the classroom and when we learned that the boysandgirls at Highlees Primary School needed some support to purchase new books, we wanted to help.
“Theteamenjoyedvisiting the school andwereexcitedto hearaboutall thegreat stories that the pupils will read over the coming months.”
