City school re­ceives do­na­tion

A school in Peterborough has had a great start to the new year byre­ceiv­ing as­pe­cial gift.

The pupils at High­lees Pri­mary School in West­wood were given a do­na­tion of £1,000 by the in­ter­net gi­ant Ama­zon.

The do­na­tion was made as part of Ama­zon Peterborough’s sup­port pro­gramme whereby the com­pany sup­ports t he c o mmu­ni­ties aroundit­sop­er­at­in­glo­ca­tions across the UK.

The school plans to use the do­na­tion to pur­chase new books and school equip­ment.

Lee Shep­herd, Site Leader at Ama­zon in Peterborough, said: “The team at Ama­zon in Peterborough has fond me­mories of read­ing the clas­sics in the class­room and when we learned that the boysand­girls at High­lees Pri­mary School needed some sup­port to pur­chase new books, we wanted to help.

“Thetea­men­joyed­vis­it­ing the school andw­ere­ex­cit­edto hear­aboutall the­great sto­ries that the pupils will read over the com­ing months.”
