Elderly ladies help special care babies

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Your News -

Elderly residents at Hampton Vale’s Avery House Care Home have put their hobby to good use by knitting blankets for Peterborough City Hospiral’s premature baby unit.

The five ladies, all over the age of 80, meet once a week at their Knit W its group and have spent a number of weeks knitting squares, which were made into blan- kets.

Recreation and Activity Co- ordinator Laura Judd said: “The ladies enjoy their knitting, but this has given them a real sense of purpose - they have been knitting squares in their rooms not just at the weekly Knit Wits get-together.

“A few residents from the knitting group made the presentation to staff from the unit who were thrilled and have asked for more to be knitted.”
