A city company has awarded one of the country’s leading children’s charity with a donation of £1000. Persimmon Homes East Midlands, based in Commerce Road at Peterborough Business Park, donated the money to the NSPCC as part of its Community Champions scheme. Each month, the house building company go through dozens of applications to choose their two Community Champions, who then each receive up to £1000. Barbara Elsey, of NSPCC, said: “We are extremely grateful to Persimmon Homes for this donation. We rely heavily on donations from businesses and it’s great to see Persimmon showing their support. Abuse robs children of their childhood. Without help, the scars of abuse can last a lifetime.” The Community Champions is a national scheme with Persimmon dishing out up to £2,000 every month. Since its start, the company has donated more than £1 million to good causes.
