Plenty of new mu­sic at top city club

Pop­u­lar city venue The Met Lounge have an­nounced a num­ber of live shows from new and emerg­ing bands to kick off the new year.

Kicking things off on Satur­day 28th Jan­uary are syn­th­wave­duoLeBrock. The­duo’s de­but EP ‘Ac­tion & Ro­mance’ was voted best EP of 2016 by Swedish Rock­ mag­a­zine.

On Satur­day 11th Fe­bru­ary the club will play host to Air­ways who were signed to a ma­jor agency last year and graced both the Read­ing and Leeds Fes­ti­val stage.

Other bands and per­form­ers in­clude The Ex­tons, from Kings Lynn, and Peterborough’s very own singer-song­writer DanPoole. MetLounge owner and pro­moter Steve Ja­son de­scribed Dan as “Peterborough’s Jake Bugg - ‘ex­treme­ly­tal­entedand­with­abit of luck could break through’

How­ever, i t s not only live shows to be seen at The Met Lounge. On Wed­nes­day nights the pop­u­lar club holds an ‘open mic’ night which has be­come very pop­u­lar. Steve added: “It’s taken a long time to es­tab­lish but it’s now at­tract­ing a reg­u­lar core crowd of both­mu­si­cian­swhowantto play, and peo­ple who want to come along, happy to lis­ten to lo­cal artistes, try out new and old stuffintheir15min­utes­lot on stage.”
