ONE of the great films from director Vittorio de Sica and stars Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni from 1964 is superbly restored. It’s an uplifting romantic comedy about a tangled relationship in seductive Naples. When a wealthy merchant moves his girlfriend into his tyrannical mother’s home she becomes the housemaid and has her own apartment. It’s a step up from the bordello where she was a prostitute. Best mother doesn’t find out this little detail about the woman desperate to marry her son to get a dad for her three kids!
