Panthers enjoyed a wonderful anniversary of their first-ever trophy triumph by winning the same event 40 years on.

The city club roared to SGB Championship Fours glory at the East of England Arena last Sunday - thumping rivals Redcar, Sheffield and Ipswich in the final of the annual event.

And a terrific performance from Chris Harris (above) , Ulrich Ostergaard, Paul Starke and late call-up Simon Lambert was witnessed by the men responsible for opening the club’s silverware collection in the same event back in 1977. Ian Clark, Kevin Hawkins, Andy Hines, Nigel Flatman and Brian Clark were all on hand to enjoy the success.

Harris, who won all five of his rides during the event, said: “To put on a show for such a big crowd, and to be able to share the success with the guys who won it all those years ago, was fantastic.”

The Fours crown was Panthers’ first team trophy success for more than a decade.
