RE: Peterborough church prepared to spend thousands of pounds defending itself over renovations appeal: A complete waste of time and money. This church, which has stood for years, does not need its beautiful interior ripped out to be replaced with that of a ‘community centre’ interior. There’s a hall just down the road for that! Does the church not have more worthy causes to focus its attentions to? Let’s hope the Victorian Society takes a firm stand against this upsetting appeal. Rachel Pishhorn Churches are there for those who worship in them. The primary function of the building is to serve it’s worshipers, not those who want a chocolate box image. If the congregation need better access (they are aging) and wish to use the space in other ways why not? The building is not a museum. Shaun Noyes

If you don’t want the church, demolish it and build another village hall like the one next door ..... otherwise leave it alone. Paul Young
