Ex-mayor visits city boat memorial

Former Mayor of Peterborough David Sanders paid tribute to seamen who died on board a boat funded by city residents. Mr Sanders visited the memorial to HMS Olympus, which saw £41,000 of funding raised by city residents in just one week in 1941. The boat was sunk in Malta in 1942, with 89 sailors losing their lives. Last year, whilst acting as mayor, Mr Sanders urged Peterborough residents to help fund the memorial.
