Listen to Lincoln Road stories
The rich diversity and distinctiveness of the Millfield area is to be celebrated with a series of street performances later this month.
Collusion, an experimental arts and technology organisation, has worked with a group of Peterborough-based creative industry professionals over the last 6 months to investigate Lincoln Road and work to engage community groups and businesses.
My Lincoln Road will encourage more people to explore and become curious about the area, and experience all that it has to offer.
Katy Hawkins, Collusion’s creative associate on this project explains: “We think a lot of what goes on in the road goes uncelebrated and unnoticed, and the group wanted that to change. By collaborating with the business community, the team worked to design and produce a series of lanterns, tailor-made for each location to showcase their cultural heritage and encourage people to explore the Lincoln Road”
Seven businesses have decided to participate and host a lantern in their bar, restaurant or cafe. The lantern not only lights up but also allows you to connect and interact with it.
On Saturday, April 28 (58pm), Collusion invites you to take part in ‘My Lincoln Road Trail’ with a series of one-off performances featuring artists up and down the road and in participating business, these will entertain and bring some of the stories to life, capturing and celebrating the area.
It’s not too late to get involved. My Lincoln Road is calling for good news stories relating to the road which can be submitted digitally using Twitter (#mylincolnroad), by telephone or handwritten using story cards available from the participating businesses.
Steve Bowyer, Chief Executive of Opportunity Peterborough said, “We’re pleased to have supported this project through the Future Peterborough programme we run in partnership with Peterborough City Council.
“This is a fantastic collaboration to celebrate the diversity and unique qualities of Lincoln Road, combining creative talent and technology to celebrate residents’ heritage.”
