Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray is relishing the three-way battle for autmatic promoton from League One. Rovers have already accrued 87 points with four matches to go and that tally is normally enough to secure an automatic promotion place.

But leaders Wigan and surprise package Shrewsbury have kept pace with Mowbray’s men to set up a thrilling end to the season.

“Only Wolves across all four divisions have gained more points than us,” Mowbray stated. “Huge credit to all three teams in our league who have gone so well. It’s exciting to be involved in and we are looking forward to seeing how it plays out. My team have been outstanding after a slow start.”
