Dairy increases milk payments

-

Dairy supplier Meadow Foods has increased the amount it is to pay farmers for milk.

The company, which has a factory in Peterborough, has raised the price per litre by 0.50ppl from August 1.

It takes the price it pays for milk to 28.50 pence per litre.

It is the fourth time this year the dairy has raised its payments to its milk suppliers.

Mark Chantler, chief executive at Meadow Foods, said: “We’re pleased to be able to pass on to our farmers the continued improvements in the dairy market.

“We will continue to watch the situation and hope the continued hot weather does not have a negative impact on production.”

He said the weather was starting to affect milk production. If it continues it has the potential to have a serious impact on milk supplies over the next few months and into the winter.
