New chief ex­ec­u­tive for Hamp­ton based charity

A Peter­bor­ough charity has ap­pointed a new chief ex­ec­u­tive.

Deaf­blind UK, which is based in Hamp­ton and is cel­e­brat­ing its 90th an­niver­sary, an­nounced Steve Con­way has taken the top job this week.

Steve’s first task has been to over­see the de­vel­op­ment and im­ple­men­ta­tion of a new strat­egy, which will take the charity for­ward to­wards their cen­te­nary and be­yond.

“I am de­lighted to have joined Deaf­blind UK at a par­tic­u­larly ex­cit­ing time in the charity’s 90 year his­tory. Our new strat­egy clearly sets out our di­rec­tion of travel for the next 5 years, which will see us sup­port­ing more peo­ple liv­ing with com­bined sight and hear­ing loss across the UK.”

Be­fore join­ing Deaf­blind UK, Steve was in the Royal Marines for 26 years, be­fore join­ing NHS Scot­land in 2002. In 2011, he be­came Chief Ex­ec­u­tive of Ersk­ine, a large charity that pro­vides care to armed forces vet­er­ans in Scot­land.
