New Year event de­ci­sion de­ferred

Coun­cil­lors yes­ter­day de­cided to de­fer a de­ci­sion on a Hog­manay event for Stone­haven’s Mar­ket Square.

Stephen Jack­son who runs Pres­tige En­ter­tain­ment had re­quested the use of the Mar­ket Square for an event to bring in Hog­manay 2019, but mem­bers of the Kin­car­dine and Mearns area com­mit­tee have asked for more in­for­ma­tion be­fore con­sid­er­ing the ap­pli­ca­tion.

Coun­cil­lor Sarah Dick­in­son asked for a de­fer­ral in or­der to gain “more clar­i­fi­ca­tion” on the type of event that would be tak­ing place and if it would be a not-for­profit or­gan­i­sa­tion in­volved.

No ap­pli­ca­tions have yet been sub­mit­ted for an event in the cen­tral plaza of the town for Hog­manay 2018.

The town’s an­nual Fire­balls Fes­ti­val is still ex­pected to go ahead as usual.
