Mu­seum fes­ti­val will see art, mu­sic and Vic­to­rian lessons

Aberdeen venues will have a cen­tral role to play as Scot­land’s Fes­ti­val of Mu­se­ums re­turns next month. The gi­ant cul­tural event cel­e­brates its 12th an­niver­sary this year and will see 100 events staged na­tion­ally.

Aber­do­nians will be able to take part in cel­e­bra­tions around the city, with five venues par­tic­i­pat­ing in the fes­ti­val, which be­gins on May 18.

Ac­tiv­i­ties will in­clude per­for­mances at the Aberdeen Mar­itime Mu­seum, art in­stal­la­tions and in­ter­ac­tive per­for­mances at Robert Gor­don Univer­sity and a chance for chil­dren to ex­pe­ri­ence life in a Vic­to­rian class­room at the Tarves Her­itage Centre.

Sarah Burry-Hayes, mar­ket­ing man­ager at Mu­se­ums Gal­leries Scot­land, said: “The pro­gramme for the 2018 Fes­ti­val of Mu­se­ums is burst­ing with fun events.
