Mean-spirited vandals have caused damage amounting to hundreds of pounds at an Aberdeenshire primary school.

Youngsters at Strathburn Primary School in Inverurie were dismayed when they arrived at the building to discover that pieces of playground equipment had been wrecked.

Police officers yesterday issued an appeal for the public’s help in tracking down those responsible for the callous act.

They reckon the vandals struck at the Strathburn Gardens site between 1pm and 2.15pm last Saturday, September 9.

Five male youths were seen within the school grounds at around that time, and investigators are eager to identify them. Constable Stephen Coutts said: “This type of antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated.”
