Woman tried for stalk­ing her ex

A north-east woman has gone on trial, ac­cused of stalk­ing her ex-hus­band and his new girl­friend.

Katie Purse, who works for the Scot­tish Fire and Res­cue Service, is ac­cused of persistently mes­sag­ing and threat­en­ing Alan Purse be­tween Fe­bru­ary and De­cem­ber 2015.

The 32-year-old is also al­leged to have done the same thing to Lor­raine Hawkins, his new part­ner, be­tween July and De­cem­ber that year.

The cou­ple have three chil­dren and were mar­ried for seven years.

Giv­ing ev­i­dence at Aberdeen Sher­iff Court yes­ter­day, Mr Purse claimed he had felt “scared” by some of the threats.

Fis­cal de­pute Karen Dow asked him: “At some point, did Miss Purse dis­cover that you had met some­one?”

He said: “I met with Lor­raine out­side Union Square in July and we went for a cof­fee.

“We met on­line it was our first meet­ing.

“I saw some­one who was friends with her new part­ner and he came over and said hello and then walked away.

“I got 42 missed calls from her within an hour.”

He was later asked about a phone call in Oc­to­ber that year.

He said: “She told me, if I did not start to play ball, she had spo­ken to a lawyer and I would have to pay her £400 a month and I would have my chil­dren taken away.”

Purse, of Wood­side Ter­race in El­lon de­nies the charges against her.

The trial, be­fore Sher­iff Char­lotte Coutts, will re­sume on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 13.
