Expenses-rise MSPs dodging austerity
SIR, – Our MSPs at Holyrood keep increasing there expenses with latest clams rising to nearly £16million in contrast with the austerity faced by most workers in Scotland facing another year of maximum salary increase of 1% well below the current 2.9% inflation rate.
It has apparently been approved that an MSP can now employ up to three staff members instead of two raising the cost per member from £62,300 to an astounding £85,000.
As a taxpayer I would question what value for money this represents for the electorate to justify this huge increase in expenses for our MSPs who only SIR- After reading the report regarding the issues highlighted by the health inspectors (Press and Journal, September 29) it seems the same issues were found at last year’s inspection. But it says a 14 page report said problems were being flagged up to supervisors but not being remedied.
Perhaps the hospital authorities should be spending more time enforcing health inspection remedies, rather than going to Australia on a Mission Impossible Farce to try to recruit nurses to come work in Scotland. I think most of the nurses here would love to be able to go work in Australia not the other way round. SIR, – There have been many comments, both positive and negative, regarding the move by AFC to Kingsford. It is most definitely the right place for them.
The size of an organisation like AFC needs a high profile and where better than to be visible from our great new AWPR, which will be used by thousands every day. It will also be the main artery to the stadium allowing people to congregate and disperse quickly.
While we accept that Westhill residents are concerned about traffic congestion, this must be put in perspective. Matches last two hours with another hour to 90 minutes either side of the game of people coming and going. This will happen at off peak times every second Saturday or on the very occasional midweek game, again at off peak times.
There are also no league games from April until August.
