Leader jailed over protest

Rus­sian op­po­si­tion leader Alexei Navalny has been jailed for 20 days for calling for an un­sanc­tioned protest in St Peters­burg.

Af­ter the rul­ing, Navalny tweeted: “20 days in jail. Old man Putin gotso scared of our ral­lies in the re­gions and de­cided to make him­self a lit­tlep­re­sent for him­self for his birth­day (Satur­day).”
