Woman hit by car
A woman was in a serious condition in hospital last night after she was hit by a car in an Aberdeenshire town.
The incident occurred on the A957 Stonehaven to Crathes road shortly after 3pm, at the junction with Braehead Crescent, Stonehaven. The road was blocked in both directions for several hours but reopened just after 7pm.
A police spokeswoman said the woman’s injuries were “serious”. She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where she was treated for head injuries.
Meanwhile, a major north-east road was blocked for two hours after a lorry broke down.
The HGV stopped on the northbound carriageway of the A90 Aberdeen-Fraserburgh, at Balmedie. The road reopened at 8.30pm.
