Salmond helps push

Campaigning in byelections can often throw up unexpected surprises – as Alex Salmond discovered in Inverurie at the weekend.

While out on the stump for Aberdeenshire Council candidate Neil Baillie, the former first minister and his team stumbled on a stranded motorist. Assisted by three able helpers, he pushed the vehicle along the road to a safe space.

Mr Salmond posted on social media: “All part of the canvassing services. Putting in the hard yards in Inverurie for by-election Neil Baillie.”
