Cove draft in defender Strachan

Former Aberdeen and Celtic defender Ryan Strachan has joined Highland League side Cove Rangers after being released by Peterhead.

The 26-year-old was with the Pittodrie club as a youngster before moving on to Parkhead. He joined the Blue Toon in July 2009 without making a top-team appearance for either club. During his time at Balmoor, Strachan played in more than 280 games but was told last week that he would not be part of manager Jim McInally’s plans for the new campaign and Cove moved sharply to bring him on board.
