Medals for heroes as troops prepare mercy mission
The remaining 50mph sections of the A944 and B9119 road in Aberdeen will be subject to a 40mph speed limit from Monday. The reduced limit was agreed at Aberdeen City Council’s Communities, Housing and Infrastructure Committee in January. The change means the A944 and B9119 between Westhill and the 30mph limit on Lang Stracht and Skene Road will have a continuous 40mph speed limit.
Evening of music, verse
The annual “Meal an’ Ale” concert goes ahead in Cookney village hall on Saturday, October 7 at 7.30pm with a varied programme of traditional music, song and verse.
Local broadcasting band leader and accordionist Ian Thomson will be accompanied by fiddler Willie Johnston. The event, organised by the Aberdeen branch of the Traditional Music and Song Association of Scotland, is usually a sellout and tickets can be booked on 01569 731236.
School event for farewells
Market Place School in Inverurie is holding a farewell event today for anyone wishing to have a final tour around the school before it closes and pupils move to their new school next month.
All ex-staff and pupils are welcome to come along between 10am and 2pm to browse old photographs and share school memories.
Bowling club season starts
Oldmeldrum Indoor Bowling Club starts its new season tomorrow at 7pm in the Oldmeldrum Royal British Legion. New members welcome.
Coffee and cake at school
Aberlour Primary School is hosting a coffee morning in the school hall on Saturday, September 30 from 10am to noon with a raffle, lucky dip, bottle stall and cake and candy for sale.
