Cook signs Essex deal

England Test cricket captain Alastair Cook has signed a one-year contract extension to stay at Essex until the end of 2018.

Cook, who has played for Essex throughout his 13year career, averaged more than 90 for his county this summer, scoring 643 runs, between his England commitments, to help seal the county championship Division Two title and promotion.
