CALEDONIA 1
Caithness head coach Tom McGee has hailed the growth in maturity in his young side this season ahead of tomorrow’s home match Caledonia 1 match against Glenrothes.
The Thurso men are top of the table after winning six of their opening seven games, including lastweekend’s 9-0 victory at Dunfermline.
McGee was pleased with the way his side dealt with the challenge and believes his players have shown a growth in character since he took charge at Millbank in the summer.
He said: “It was our best performance of the season. It was a horrible day and we had to really tough it out.
“We are always going tocomeupagainst changes and swings in momentum in games. Whathas pleased me in the last three or four games is we have shown a different side to our game.
“The players are developingandwearemanagingto come through some tough games.”
Caithness’ v i c tor y stretched their lead at the top of the league to four points after Gordonians’ 7-5 defeat by Strathmore.
Caithness will be able to call on the returning Andrew Morris and Stevie Campbell but are still likely to be below full strength, with McGee adding: “We will stillbemissingsevenor eight players but we still have the core group there which makes a big difference.
“I expect itwill be a completely different game from last week but we are trying to keep improving the players all the time.
“There is a lot of improvement still to come in the backs but the players have been enjoying the training.”
