Fine and ban for driver

A man has been banned from driv­ing after be­ing spot­ted driv­ing er­rat­i­cally on the A9.

John Bell was wit­nessed on the In­ver­ness to Perth road near To­matin just be­fore Christ­mas, and po­lice tracked the car to his home ad­dress in Up­per Kes­sock Street, In­ver­ness.

When tested, he was two-and-a-half times the le­gal limit.

In­ver­ness Sher­iff Court was told yes­ter­day that it was the 56-year-old’s se­cond sim­i­lar of­fence.

Bell was fined £1,000 and banned from driv­ing for two years.

But Sher­iff Gor­don Fleet­wood said that will be re­duced by six months if he suc­cess­fully passes the drink-drive re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion course.
