Nuttall pulls out of debate
Ukip leader Paul Nuttall has pulled out of a byelection hustings after facing calls to resign as an MEP over inaccurate claims that he lost close friends in the Hillsborough disaster.
Organisers of the event ahead of the Stoke by- election say they were told Mr Nuttall would not be attending about an hour before it began.
It follows a decision to take his website off-line for “scheduled maintenance”.
The Ukip leader has apologised over claims – carried on the website for six years– thathe lost close friends atHillsborough, which he admitted was wrong in a live radio interview.
He still insists he was at Hillsborough when tragedy struck in 1989.
